The Mystical Beast has Opal's Fell from the Sun online. Get it fast before it's gone. I imagine the effect the slighty noisy guitar sound has on me similar to the one from eating magic mushrooms. There is a warm dizziness in the guitar solo I absolutely adore. Kendra Smith's singing is rather monotonous, a little in the tradition of the unemotional sprechgesang of Nico but it works. I think I wrote about Opal and this track before but I can't be arsed to look for the post.

A new indie centric mp3 blog I just discovered is Antificial Radio Weblog. Methods of Torture. Recent tracks posted were amongst others by Sonic Youth, Mouse on Mars, Autechre, Negativland, Laibach and some Russian bands.

If I had to choose between a world with permanent music playing in the background and a silent world without any music I would go for the latter.

The blo.gs blogroll seems to slow down this site enormously. Therefore I took it off for the time being.

The new 40GB iPod costs $399 in the US. Which is 0.827529*399= € 330.18 But in Germany the iPod costs € 429 (D). I am not giving 100 euros to Apple like that. No way. Why should the Europeans pay for the "low" prices in the States? Why should I support a monopoly? Fuck off, Apple.

An Idiot's Guide to Dreaming recently has become the first stop to satisfy my hunger for quality music mp3s. Loki writes on Autechre today and offers four tracks.

God this is so gorgeous, I can't believe it. It's spinning in my shitty kitchen Philips CD player for the second time now and I am already overwhelmed. It's moody, atmospheric stuff with some jazzy elements like a trumpet and piano. Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden isn't too far. Some weird electronic and not so electronic sounds but not too many. Rather dark than bright. Rather monochromic than black and white. Rather a maelstrom than a cataract. Music that draws the listener in and embraces him without asking him. There are beats but they are hardly danceable. I could bathe in this relaxing ocean of blue forever. Maybe my new favourite album of this year. Though it is definitely too premature for such a bold statement. And Riot on an Empty Street is a masterpiece almost impossible to best.

Comprehensive one hour interview with Björk on her new album Medulla at BBC-Radio 3-Mixing It (starting around 1'15''). The way she rolls the "r" is awesome. Sounds almost Scottish to my ears. Lots of songs from Medulla (Latin for marrow = innermost) as well.
