Forty years, forty covers

lots of nice juxtapositions in there - nick and neil making faces at each other, joni and kain-ann leaning the same way but oppsoite in intent, cat powe gazing into a hallway... a great series and a wonderfull start of a collection for someone.

don't forget robert wyatt flying towards the angel margo timmins. and the ape just about to jump on the back of the giant butterfly. and coltrane looking at dylan who in turn looks at us.

you know, you can edit old comments around here, phil? kain-ann sounded interesting though. in german we write the cain from the bible kain. maybe there was some psychological meaning to that...

Ooh, that Getz & Gilberto almost never seems to get any love. I spent a month once with access only to that record and Joni Mitchell's 'Hissing of the Summer Lawns,' and it still brings back very warm memories (though the month was November). Always happy to see that the beauty of 'Blue' is so undeniable that even we serious music geeks give it due credit.

really? i always thought that was the most classic of all bossa nova albums. there are many people who don't like joni mitchell though. for example my girl-friend. something i will never understand. she used to be perfect in the 70s. the voice, the words, the music, everything. mingus was her last great album. what a hidden gem!
