Which of the following is your favourite album?

i only know a couple of these. nothing much in my collection from that year, either.

It's not that there weren't any good albums out then (some great ones in the list) but the mainstream was pretty moribund. I remember that year for music by people like Lionel Richie and Mr. Mister -- ugh.

Surely you have your own reasons for picking a Smiths compilation over the excellent Queen Is Dead -- and I always thought Your Funeral, My Trial was an EP, and Kicking Against The Pricks the Bad Seeds album of that year, but maybe I'm wrong, and again you have your reasons.

I picked the lovely Victorialand as my choice from that year, but there were plenty of other great records around then: Blood and Chocolate by Costello, I Against I by Bad Brains, Candy Apple Grey by Hüsker Dü. Still that's an interesting cross-section.

Well, now I have to listen to some Cocteaus, and once again we have Close Your Eyes to thank for it... :-)
