P.S. I somehow really sympathize with the idea of writing the whole blog crossed out from now on. It's only as I don't want to lose my last reader that I won't. Just imagine that everything I write should be crossed out immediately after having been read. Words really should destroy themselves after having been written down...

That is the best blog entry I've read for a very long time - fantastic! I think I understand what you mean and how you feel. When trying to be serious, in general I find myself immediately dissatisfied with whatever I write, and tempted to scrap it all - it invariably seems cliched or trite or shallow or pointless or vapid or pretentious. Hence the consistently flippant tone of my blog - it feels for the most part like the only way I can write, and that's not a happy state of affairs. ... link

And looking back at that entry I feel even more ashamed. As it is even worse than the usual posts where I at least try to convey a message or an idea. It is hollower than hollow. Meta-hollow. Somehow I like the idea of spontaneous prose writing as it was used by Kerouac . Writing without the inner filter/censor. Just scribbling down whatever passes through my brain when perceiving music, images, whatever. I think that's what I am going to do from now on. In that way I will write more and will probably be even more vapid but I will at least not pretend to say anything important. It won't be me who will be writing but some force passing through me. Not sure if that is comprehensible, probably not. But who cares. ... link ... comment |
