gotta be pere ubu - for me, one of the best albums ever made, one of the albums i never tire of. others include: Bley, Carla - Musique Mechanique : plinky plonk jazz with a weird touch Costello, Elvis - This Years Model : maybe his best rock album Eno, Brian - Ambient 1 : Music For Airports : a defining moment in systems music Fall, The - Live At The Witch Trials : corruscating as always Henry Cow - Western Culture : their least interesting but great none-the-less Rungren, Todd - Hermit of Mink Hollow : a late masterpiece Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food : their 2nd best This Heat - This Heat : another best 10 for me Wire - Chairs Missing : less punky, more arty X-Ray Spex - Germ Free Adolescents : best punk album, evah Voigt/465 - Slights Unspoken : rowing my own boat ... link

many interesting albums in there, phil. 1978 must be the worst covered year in my collection. music for airports though doesn't do anything for me. that may be its original purpose. music for films on the other hand is absolutely lovely. i'll go for either that or pere ubu, i suppose. haven't heard the pere ubu yet, btw. i am esp. intrigued by the x-ray spex, the wire, the this heat and your band. is that album still available somewhere? ... link

a voigt compilation cd (including our single + lp and some studio out-takes) was re-released a couple of years back by a couple of kids from melbourne. all 500 copies went into the back room of a distributor to whom they owed money and we've no idea where they are still. ... link ... comment
