thanks for the comment. of course i feel homeless but that is more an emotional or intellectual feeling than a real one. and it has been like that all my life. i am used to it. i don't feel at home in germany. never have been in the last 25 or so years. that's probably one reason why i write in english. though in a way the german language is maybe my only home. the strange thing is that i feel more at home in it when i am not in germany. in which other language does a word for the feeling described by the german word heimweh exist?

It's heimwee in dutch, guess that's why we call such terms "germanisms". never gave in to the urge to emigrate?

i did, twice. the first time i wanted to leave germany for good on bicycle to go to india but my trip was put to a halt in greece because of a natural disaster.

the second time was my first job in luxembourg where i stayed for seven years. a human disaster finished this effort to leave germany.
