When I think of AAS I think of this song. Mellow and catchy, with this fuzzy warmth which can almost save the life of a manic depressive like me. Early Stereolab made music with similar repetitive hooks but their sound was more indifferent. Maybe because Andrew Kenny's soft voice has this tender human touch which Laetitia Sadier's sexy, slightly bored voice just can't provide? Not sure about that but there is more happening here than in an average Stereolab loop song. It's propelling forward though on a relatively slow space. There is the word love written all over this song. And this band. An evolving love. I could listen to this on repeat forever. You're sending me a postcard from the sand

andrew kenny: ein sehr gesprächiger zeitgenosse. habe mich auf einem konzert zum aktuellen album über ebendieses mit ihm unterhalten. er sagte, dass er es für das bisher beste der band halte, weil es den sound der vorigen alben sehr gut in sich vereint. kam mir im übrigen ebenso vor. wo ich know by heart etwas zu vergniedelt spacig fand, the golden band jedoch seit jahren innig liebe treffen sich die beiden scheiben auf set free sehr schön. kennst du die home-ep schon? ... link

kenne leider the golden band nicht, habe aber schon viel gutes darüber gehört. die letzten beiden alben fand ich eher enttäuschend. aas scheinen irgendwie zu stagnieren. da fehlen mir die ideen, zu viele songs rauschen an mir vorbei. immer das gleiche strickmuster, aber mit weniger wärme und weniger hooks. die home ep kenne ich überhaut nicht. live waren sie das letzte mal vor 1-2 jahren auch nicht mehr so toll wie beim ersten mal. ... link ... comment |
