March 2, 2004 at 9:38:00 PM CET [music, artists] March 2, 2004 at 9:38:00 PM CET Just listen, don't read on The first time I listened to Sophia I thought but I bloody know this voice. I liked it without being able to say where I had heard it before. Recently I read a review where Robin Proper-Sheppard's voice was compared to Mick Jagger's. First I thought no way. I just got People Are Like Seasons in the mail and I am listening to it on repeat now. And it is true. The more the CD advances the more I hear Mick Jagger and this really bothers me. It takes away something. It's not that I hate Mick Jagger but I don't want him to sound like singing these fragile beautiful songs. Because it doesn't fit somehow. link (no comments) ... comment [music, songs] March 2, 2004 at 9:17:00 PM CET 15 versions of Kraftwerk's "The Model" by among others The Balanescu Quartet, Rammstein, Big Black, Ride and Belle & Sebastian at Sleeve Notes: Talvez. Chris Whitley's take on the European release of Dirt Floor is sadly missing. link (no comments) ... comment March 1, 2004 at 9:44:00 PM CET [meta] March 1, 2004 at 9:44:00 PM CET I doubt that there will be many updates here in the coming weeks. There is a lot of work to do and I am in one of these internet weariness phases. A book I have just started which I am enjoying a lot: Stephen Vizinczey's In Praise of Older Women from 1965. It makes very easy and entertaining reading in the train to work. I am pretty much at the beginning. The autobiographical hero who is twelve or thirteen hasn't lost his virginity yet. But he has been very close already. Additionally he is arranging the rendez-vous of American soldiers with Austrian women who are in need of money... link (no comments) ... comment February 26, 2004 at 12:54:00 PM CET [music, links] February 26, 2004 at 12:54:00 PM CET Momus has a livejournal now. Yesterday's entry is on Adam Green (ex-Moldy Peaches). I heard some songs of his album a couple of days ago. Excellent songwriter stuff. I found him quite charming too in the radio interview. P.S. Another livejournal by a musician: Kimya Dawson Loves You link (no comments) ... comment February 25, 2004 at 11:21:00 PM CET [music, songs] February 25, 2004 at 11:21:00 PM CET Julia 2004. Great cover. Or sample. Or whatever. P.S. Marcello Carlin is more explicit on this version in his review of DJ Dangermouse's Grey Album: “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” is The Black Album’s obligatory conveyor belt Timbaland production. The original is more interesting for the new level of weariness in Jay-Z’s voice as he mutters: “Get that…dirt off your shoulder” as though he had the universe on his shoulder, weighing him down like a 16-ton safe newly fallen from a 45th floor office window. But DJ Dangermouse even makes Timbaland interesting again. The Grey Album version is musically based on “Julia” – the brilliant John Lennon meditation on metamorphosing from one form of life into another – but cuts up the acoustic guitar lines fabulously in tandem with Timbaland’s broken beats, creating a new genre of medieval glitch, coming across like John Dowland jamming with Oval.

Why don't you kill me. Bestellungen ab 50 € sind übrigens auch portofrei seit neuestem. link (no comments) ... comment [meta] February 24, 2004 at 10:32:00 PM CET autism it happens more and more often. i look for something on the web. for an answer to a question and one of the first results is my weblog. it feels like being a very helpless god. link (no comments) ... comment February 23, 2004 at 12:59:00 PM CET [humour] February 23, 2004 at 12:59:00 PM CET Joschi, renommierter Teppichhändler mosaischen Glaubens, sitzt nach Abschluß der Teppich-Fachmesse mit Kollegen zusammen und säuft sich einen an.
Erster Teppich. Joschi: "Isfahan." Stimmt!
Zweiter Teppich. Joschi: "Ghom." Stimmt auch!
Dritter Teppich. Joschi: "Kaschmir." Stimmt!
